the Mind-Body-Soul Connection

Hello All !
I hope you had a nice weekend and have been getting pumped for the holiday season! Today I want to blog about the mind body soul connection, which most of you have already heard before. The way this works is that we need to create balance amongst the three in order to feel alive in this little game called life. Like the three S's of life (see earlier blog post) we cannot only focus on one facet, instead we must maintain balance and nurture all three! Basically I want you to think of the mind body soul connection as a triangle
Mind
Body - Body- Body
Soul -Soul-Soul-Soul-Soul-Soul

The Mind is on the top in that we must nurture it with knowledge and keep it free of clutter. Our studies do not simply stop once we complete school, they continue throughout our life in order for us to learn about ourselves and those we come in contact with. We must also train the mind to stay free of stress even in the toughest of situations. If this sounds hard try breathing techniques and or looking at problems from a different angles. Try Meditation, yoga, simple stretching, and even shutting your eyes while listening to relaxing music.
Once we nurture the Mind we move down to our body which must be fed empowering foods and exercised daily. We must not eat or drink in excess instead we should monitor ourselves that we are keeping a proper balance. Many people decide to eat fast food since it is a lot quicker but as time progresses the body feels sluggish and looks fat and not exercised. This greatly effects our mind and our ability to think clearly. When we decide to treat our body like an automobile; keeping it clean, well tuned, and properly fed we notice we instantly feel and look better radiating positive energy into the world. This brings me to the soul -
Our connection to the Soul is our connection to our highest selves. We cannot connect to this higher self unless we have treated our mind and our body with respect. When we are proactively doing the things we enjoy most, we are connecting to our true selves and will see much more synchronicity in our lives, bump into the people we need most, and we will radiate confidence. When we believe in our selves despite what others are saying, we connect with our highest nature. I like to look at other peoples negativity and their doubts as a personal obstacle - I see it as a hurdle and it gives me the strength to move in the appropriate direction for me! I promise you if you follow your gut feelings and stay true to your heart you will succeed in life. The reason most do not connect with him or herself on a spiritual level is due to fear - Fear of the unknown, the fear of what others think, and the fear of failing. As Susan Jeffer's says, "feel the fear and do it anyway."

So you want to be a success ?

Hello everyone - I hope all of you have had a nice week so far despite the cold weather! Today I wanted to blog about becoming successful - Many people have a distorted idea of what being a success means, in that generally people associate it with money and or fame. After hearing and reading about too many who feel that way, I decided to look up the word "Success" in the dictionary. The definition of success is as follows; The accomplishment of an aim or purpose. (now I probably could stop writing the rest of this entry in that some of you are astonished by such a definition). Being successful, which any powerful person will tell you, is about choosing a goal and working each and every day towards that goal. Many people will argue and say, " a successful person is one whom is rich or has reached a high level of status and or fame based on a idea he or she came up with." As this may be true in the end - The money comes after you become successful. The amount you earn is in direct proportion to how much service you are providing for others. These people that you see all over t.v. have worked not harder than their peers but smarter to get to where they want to be. The question you have to ask yourself is, "how badly do I want it." If you want to be success take a good look at yourself in the mirror and really dig deep towards what's important to you. Put money aside and understand that you will make more money than you can imagine if you put your heart and soul into the line of work you want to do - Create a vision for yourself, and stay true to that vision.
I listen to a lot of motivational audiobooks which repeatedly state that the airplane, the computer, the lightbulb, the telephone, etc etc. were once not even imaginable. These ideas were ridiculed by people and no one in a million years thought these things would come into fruition except one person, the creator. Be a creator, imagine something and put your heart and soul into it. If you believe it, you surely will acheive it.
Another note on being a success, write your ideas down, and jot other ideas around them(this will stir the creativity around). Eat healthy, get adequate sleep, and treat your body well. All are essential for you to be fully creative and alert to the beauty of the world around us. Remember you are in the drivers seat - Think of it this way your soul or that being looking out of your eyelids is the driver and your body is simple the vehicle. It is your job to keep your vehicle in good shape and it is also your job to get your vehicle to the correct destination - There is place where we all belong, maybe there are a few places, only You know where that is.

The little voice that says....

Hello to all! and happy Thanksgiving!! I hope all of you completed your 10 day challenge and have noticed a dramatic difference in the way you think and feel towards every day experiences. If we maintain a positive attitude during even the worst events we will always stay calm and our minds will search for solutions rather than focusing on the problems!

Todays blog I would like to talk about the little voice inside of your head that constantly says, "you can't do this or that!" and the bigger voice that yells, "your the man! or "your the
wo-man!" These two voices are traditionally linked to what outsiders, rather than yourself tell you day in and day out. Many people do not realize that our brains act as recording devices and or answer machines. We may do something, for instance - Dance, and our best friend may say, "your a terrible dancer." Our subconscious records this into our brain and whenever we go to dance again, we question whether we look stupid or not in our mind - we lose control of our concentration during the act, which ultimately causes our body language to portray us as lacking confidence and we never want to dance again. On the flip side we may dance and our friend may say, "thats great how did you learn to dance like that?!" this response instills confidence into our brains and we feel good whenever we repeat the action. This is common with anything we do whether it be; dancing, singing, testing our intelligence level, speaking, etc etc etc - the list is endless!! If we let the negative chitter chatter get to us we will not feel confident in our actions which will let the little voice dominate and control our experiences!

I am a big believer that we truly become what we think most often. If we tell ourselves that we are talented, smart, well spoken, etc. this is what we will become - it is that simple. Pay attention to the words that you use when describing yourself in various situations. also pay attention to how you see yourself in different situations. People who know they are good at certain tasks will ultimately perform better than those who feel that they are no good. To test this idea take something that you may feel not up to par in. Really believe that you are able to learn and perform the task at ease. Create an affirmation to say each morning and night that you are confident and competent. practice the task daily and over time you will begin to see that your your confidence levels will shoot up and you will be able to do this task. If it is a puzzle of some sort or an idea that you may have but cannot find a solution to, by believing in yourself and focusing on a solution as opposed to the problem, your brain will flood with new ideas and guide you in the right direction!
A great tool is Visualization - This is when you Visualize yourself performing an action and succeeding. if you do this enough you will feel confident in your ability to actually perform the task. Many great speakers do this prior to giving a speech as well as many great athletes prior to game time. here is a breakdown -

1. visualize yourself having completed the task in a successful manner
2. Rewind the Visual in your head and watch yourself, step by step doing and succeeding in whatever it is that you are choosing to do.
3. Actually perform the task and feel confident in yourself that the end result will match your vision.

This actually works and there have been many studies proving that creative visualization helps professional athletes, teachers, doctors, test takers, etc.

I hope all of you have learned a little bit about how our thinking can affect how successful we are in various aspects of our lives. I hope you apply the techniques and invest in yourself as much as some do on meaningless possessions and or ideas. There are some great audio books and or paperbacks out there and if you want some suggestions feel free to email me at ggoodm42@yahoo.com. I hope all of you have a great holiday and remember - ""Think big, dream big and act big. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale talked about the power of positive thinking and how positive thoughts push us towards positive action and positive outcomes. By thinking big, we push our expectations higher, and the higher our expectations, the higher our actual achievements. Once we have big thoughts, it is easier to take big actions and then our chances of big outcomes dramatically increases."

The art of Journaling

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend and is sticking to the 10 day challenge I posted a few days ago! I am testing this idea on a friend at work and have noticed a huge difference so far. Todays blog I want to focus on the art of Journaling. This is something you can do any where and any time. Many people associate journaling with keeping a diary of some sort, which for most men may make them feel weak and inferior, while for some women, may make them feel like a teenage girl. Journaling is done by some of the most successful entrepreneurial minded people all over the world. If you don't believe me type in any person you deem successful, along with the words journaling, and I guarantee he or she sticks to this practice.
To start a journal, simply go out and buy a spiral notebook(this doesn't have to be expensive). There are also journaling programs on computers that you can download in order to protect the privacy of your thoughts. The best time to Journal is in the morning when your mind is in its most creative state and you don't have the clutter from your days experience. Spend roughly 10-20 minutes just writing. (Put the date and the time at the top of the page).
If you don't know what to write about then write out, "what will I get out of doing this exercise" until your hand gets tired, you go clinically insane, or your timer goes off.
The art of Journaling is that you can write about whatever you feel - you can write down ideas that you have, future plans, people you'd like to call, places you'd like to see, etc. Some people simply spend this time to vent out their frustrations while others use it as a tool to document success. The whole idea is to use this form of therapy to dig deeper into your soul and become more aware of your needs, wants, fears, things that make you happy(things you'll want to pull closer to you), and things that make you sad(you'll want to avoid these things). If you continually stick to this practice you will notice a change in how you think and feel. Your thoughts will seem much clearer, you will become more creative in problem solving, and most importantly you will truly know yourself. Over time you may want to go back to old journal entries (a year later from the date usually works best) and see how your life has changed - it really is a magical thing to see yourself positively transform over time. If you need more clarification as always feel free to email me at ggoodm42@yahoo.com and or Google Journaling. I wish you all the best of luck!

Have a good one,

Geoff

10 day challenge

Aloha to all!

I am back in action with keeping up on the blog spot after a long hiatus. I have been doing more reading on personal development and want to share my knowledge to empower all of you!
Lets start with a 10 day challenge. Your challenge is to rid yourself of any negative thoughts. Wow this sounds hard doesn't it? most of us live in a chaotic little world where the smallest mistake and or "action" causes us to react with inner turmoil. If you stick to the plan, you will notice after a few days it gets easier! you will create a space in your mind that will always kick in when you engage in any negative thought process - Heres your action plan - Start Tomorrow! For 10 consecutive days you are to refuse any negative thoughts and or feelings about yourself or others around you. When you catch yourself acting negatively or thinking negatively shift your mindset to a positive question aka How can I learn from this person? How can I learn from this experience? what is great about this? (remember when asking a question make sure it is empowering). if you want to lose weight would you say - "I don't want to be fat anymore" or would you say, "How can I come up with a plan to sculpt my body into the shape that I desire most." Another rule to the game which is very important is to focus on the solution NOT the problem. If something arises and you get upset, please focus on a solution. if you dwell on the problem you will create a snowball effect of mini problems and become even more stressed. Our brain is a very powerful too and when we ask great questions based on finding solutions rather than focusing on "problems" our mind will find ways to come up with answers! If you find yourself caught up in negative thought give yourself a minute to shift your mindset, if you absolutely cannot do this start your 10 days over the following day.
This technique is proven to work and if you stick to the plan you will see amazing results. You will be able to think more positively about any given situation and wouldn't you agree that would make life just a bit easier?

"Be master of mind rather than mastered by mind" - zen proverb

Enjoy the evening,

A little zen wisdom (revised)

"For most of us the greatest mystery of all is who we truly are. the single most important journey you will ever take is the quest to recognize yourself. the single most important contribution you have to make is who you truly are” seijaku roshi

What a great quote I stumbled upon! I think its important to realize that when we say something, to make sure we are really speaking OUR  truth and not someone else's.  What truly makes each and every one of us unique? - our talents, our drive towards certain goals, our motivation, and our life vision. I have tried very hard to paint a final picture of what the end result looks like, to realize that there is no end result. there is no painting that can justify what will be. The painting is actually an endless movie that is created day by day through trial and error. When we motivate ourselves to try new things and  relax in our own skin, this is when all of the pieces come together, when opportunity presents itself, and when the wind pushes against our backs towards our life's path. We may do something great, such as; give what we feel, is our best lecture, but we can always strive for more. Life is an endless journey where we are to try new things each and every day for our own personal growth. A wise man told me that success is not measured in how much money we accumulate, but how much service we provide for others. Be happy each and every day, and be sure to do the things that YOU enjoy, for if you do, you will definitely provide a great service to those around you!

Have an excellent evening,

Geoff

Stay Dedicated

To those who read the blog often I do apologize for being MIA - I did just get a job which I absolutely love and I have started to implement the things that I've learned, to not only attract new clients and prospects, but to stay stress-free during the workday. The topic I want to touch up on is - the power of discipline. I have been waking up at 6 am to go to the gym and when that alarm goes off, there are days where my mind wants to shut back down and sleep. I say to myself that I have made a commitment to get up and workout and I simply shoot out of bed. If there is something you have been meaning to do, write down that task and figure out how long you can give yourself until it becomes a part of you. Usually after a good week or two your body and mind will adapt to the task at hand. Maybe you want to cut out a certain food, start running, or have your room be more clean. Whatever it may be, make a commitment to yourself, to do just one thing every day and when the time comes to do it, and you don't want to, say to yourself that you must, you have to, you've made a commitment to yourself to a better YOU! there is no better investment than in oneself.  If you can believe that anything is possible in the world, and that the more you invest in yourself, the more you will prosper and your life will be great!

enjoy the day,

How badly do you want it- Food for thought

Back in High school I was handed an article by my cross country running coach, entitled, "How Badly Do You Want It." It was about runners, and the article emphasized that to get where you want to be, you must practice and work consistently towards your goal. I always kept that article hanging at home to remind myself of how hard I worked towards achieving a 4:58 mile time. Lately I have been thinking about the "real world" and how the article can be related to work, relationships, personal health, and any other endeavor we journey towards.  I believe that if we want something bad enough, we must ask ourselves, how badly do we really want it. What will we sacrifice to get to the pot of gold? If you can dream it you can live it. Next time you become stressed in life ask yourself what can I do differently, What am I willing to do differently, and how can I step out of my comfort zone to get where I want to be. If you remember that  you cannot get the sweet without the sour and the sour is not all that bad, you will surely get to where you want to be!

Enjoy your day,

Geoff

Fun meditation technique by me

A magician walks on stage and sets his top hat on the ground below. he smiles at his audience and opens a large brown bag and tosses what seems like post-it notes into the air. The pieces of paper float around and continually whirl until they all magically fall into the top hat. The man invites his assistant on stage, who opens her purse, and begins tossing the letters of the alphabet high into the air. Strange as it may seem each letter sails around for a bit until comfortably landing into the top hat. At this moment you are to shut your eyes and breathe 3 deep breaths. Visualize yourself walking towards the stage. Imagine yourself reaching into this top hat and pulling out a card. On the card is a message that you are to read - Write down the first thing that comes to your mind. This is a great little exercise I created when I needed some help from my intuition. Our higher selves like to visualize and create. If you can create a little scene in your head by using your imagination, you can tap into your intuitive powers. If you have some trouble doing this - have a friend or family member read aloud this scene while you mentally walk up to the stage and reach for your note. I wish you all luck! and as always -

Enjoy your weekend!

making a difference

Tonight I attended an event for an organization called Taig - Taigfoundation.org. Their goal is to assist those with disabilities to live more fulfilling lives. I sat through speeches given by Mayor Nutter,  Jim Murray, Jeffrey Brown, and many other honorable guests.  It is so amazing at how this organization is making a difference in the lives of people with mental retardation. It is a beautiful thing when you can be a part of something that is impacting  someone's life, since  It usually passes me by and it probably does many of you - but we can all make a difference whether it is giving a donation to those less fortunate or to even spend a day with someone who has some sort of disability. It really makes you appreciate all that you have and you really feel a sense of goodness. If you want to live abundantly help others - Martin Luther King said it best, "We Have two hands, one to help ourselves, and one to help others."

Enjoy your week,

The power of asking

I have written a previous post on the power of Asking the Universe for anything you desire but I did not brush up on the power of asking people for the things you want most in life. Many of us never ask for anything because of the fear of rejection or the feeling of being powerless. We may not ask that special woman or man on a date, we may not ask for a raise, we may not ask for help, etc.  This is due to the Ego saying that we will be ridiculed or shamed for our questioning.  I read a book last night entitled, "The Aladdin Factor" By Jack Canfield, which discusses  the power of asking people for the things we desire in life. He brings up a good point when he says, "If you never ask, for what you want, you will never know if you could have obtained it. By asking you can either get rejected or accepted, if you get rejected, you have not gained nor lost anything, you are just where you had started, therefore why not take a chance and simply ask?" The power of being curious is something that successful people have. They are not afraid to ask for help from other people. A success is not one who builds an empire alone but who rounds up a team of people to construct its foundation.  If you want a raise, if you want to ask that special person on a date, if you need help with something, make it a point to ask. Try it today and see your life unfold.

Enjoy your Week -

A few things to make YOU live more abundantly!

What a great topic to stumble upon today - I have been reading multiple books on personal development in the past few weeks and came across several ideas that have really stood out in my mind. Many people go through the course of their life and wonder, why am I not making more friends, creating new business opportunities, feeling great, meeting my partner, and any other downer thought that can matriculate in ones mind.  Lets discuss a few things that you can do to make YOU more appealing.

1) Learn to smile - it has a powerful effect on people. Ever notice the small child in the waiting room at your doctors office - He/she Smiles at you and it brightens your day?
2) Learn to be genuinely interested in other people besides YOU - Ever notice how much a person LOVES talking about himself? he/she can go on for hours. Many people just want to vent or be heard. You don't go to a doctor for a solution, you go to vent about a problem!
3)Remember Names - This is a gimme! to become more prosperous in your lifetime, remember peoples names! Everyone loves to be addressed by the name he or she was given - Remember to say thank you" Insert person name" when your leaving star bucks tomorrow morning.
4) treat others how you would like to be treated - this is obvious!

These are all rules that you already know but most of us never use them in our daily lives. It is a shame because these are very powerful rules that will make you live more abundantly and prosper in all areas of life! you will do well in any social situation if you just learn to look at things from others perspectives and realize we  all like to be treated well. I don't know any person who doesn't like a compliment, doesn't like the word thank you, and doesn't like to talk about him or herself. For more information how you can be a social machine read, "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie. It will change your life!

I wish you all the best for the rest of this week!

Meditation

Many people meditate to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, aches and pains, feel healthy, and because its proven to have MANY MANY MANY  benefits to ones well being. Recently I have been taking 20 minutes a day to myself to meditate which has really helped me appreciate more in life and feel less stress during my day to day. A great technique to try is - sitting in an upright position on a chair of if you can cross your legs like the Buddhist - by all means go for it. If you feel your back straining you may put a pillow behind it to comfort yourself in this upright position. Relax your mind and shut your eyes - Take a deep breath and count 1 thousand, 2 thousand, 3 thousand, and release the breath counting in the same fashion. Do this three times (3 sets of 1-2-3-). After your third set sit and enjoy the moment. Continue to breathe but do not focus so much on the breath. Try not to think about anything you need to do in the future nor anything you have done in the past. Just enjoy the feeling - After a few moments  -  Breathe again - 1-2-3-. And let your mind wander where it wants to. Listen to the outside noises for a moment or two and return to the sounds of your breath. Focus on different things throughout your session and just allow. Do not try and force anything - Allow your thoughts to flow freely. Things will come up in a session whether it be memories, lost dreams, ideas, or friends you have not spoken to in some time. Just allow! - Set an alarm on your phone that is not too loud -and try this for a few days @ 15-20 Minutes.  I promise you will see a difference in your day to day. For further explanation check out Youtube and type in meditation techniques or music - they have a lot of great videos!

Enjoy the week!

Gratitude

This is a short blog - but today it hit me that throughout my life I neglected to give thanks to all that I had and have. We need to really show gratitude every day of our lives. If you feel badly because you don't have all that you want in life - please take a second to consider those who are living with 20 other families in dark shelters with no heat, no bathroom, and no food. There are people out in the world who are happy to have the scraps of a banana peal as their only meal of the day. Please take 10 minutes today, tomorrow, and the rest of your days to thank god that you have what you have, and most importantly that you have your health. It is sad that I had to write a blog about this but I've come to conclusion that a lot of us get absorbed in what we don't have - lets start appreciating what we do have so this world can be a better place.

peace & love

Think your "weigh" to a New Weight

Recently I realized I was shying away from blogging about the law of attraction to obtain certain things and writing more about personal development skills. In this blog I want to touch up on using the universal law to obtain a better body. Many people around this time of year complain about their weight due to hibernating all winter, chowing down on pizza, and drinking plenty of beer. A good diet of 6 small meals a day and exercising 3 times or more a week will do the trick, but I want to try an experiment which is known to work. If you find yourself staring into the mirror and worrying about the body you will be taking to the beach this summer, take a minute to find a picture of someone who has a body you admire. Cut this picture out or print it off the computer and hang it somewhere where you WILL see it every day. Above the picture write  a mantra such as the words, "Each day, with everything I eat and the exercise I perform, I am willing to allow my body to look perfect." Look at this statement and this picture daily and imagine how it feels to walk down the beach with that body. Your mind is a very powerful thing and you will notice yourself eating healthier and your exercise routine will become more meaningful because you have a specific goal in mind. Many people will not do this exercise because they are too lazy to break out of their daily habits but if you do go through with it I guarantee you results. Remember whatever we tell our subconscious mind, it believes - Get into a habit of staying positive and think your weigh to a new weight!

A Fun Goal Exercise

As we know - The successful person makes a habit to set both short term and long term goals.   Here is a fun exercise that will help clarify your wants and needs - Take a pen and a pad of paper - write out 100 goals that you would like to accomplish in this lifetime. Be creative and write whatever comes to your mind even if it sounds totally absurd. If you get to goal 50 and get stuck do something for a few moments and come back to the exercise. Look at these goals often and after you have have successfully completed a goal- write Success!! next to it and work towards the next one. Some of your goals may require large sums of money and that is okay - You may not have the finances at the moment but if you keep your goals in mind, eventually the things needed (i.e. finances or people) will be attracted to you at the right moments.  One of the struggles many people have in life is defining what it is they exactly want. Through conscious writing you begin to tap into the subconscious mind and wants and needs arise to the surface. When you review the goals that you have written, on a daily basis, your mind will go into a creative mode and you will begin to come up with ideas on how to achieve the goals. Have fun with this and good luck on your endless journey!

Enjoy -

Learn to Love Failing

To acknowledge THE POWER OF FAILURE  breeds sure success. Recently I have been thinking about successful people and how these people got to where they are now. The ingredients are; A worthy Idea, hard work, perseverance, and the LOVE OF FAILING. Why do I emphasis having a love for failing, because it is important for us to grow. I once was very afraid of public speaking and constantly dreaded the process of being in front of people. I knew in my heart I wanted to be in front of people but I was so scared to do so. After having enough courage, I started performing open mics and joined a toastmasters public speaking club(which I highly highly highly highly recommend). It was through these experiences that I learned it is okay to be a beginner and most importantly it is okay to be afraid. I truly do believe what we fear most is what we are meant to be doing. I spent a year at a dead end job until I found the courage to articulate some sort of sentence describing to my boss my need to quit. I remember thinking to myself as I was talking to him that day, "what the hell am I doing, This is great, this is unreal, am I talking, who is this nutcase speaking the words that are pouring out of my mouth." All of these thoughts criss-crossed through my head until I was finished. These actions that I took were the best decisions of my life. I recently read an article describing how great it is to be laid off or quit a job. The individual who is put in this situation really has to learn to fail in order to succeed. This person by trial and error has to go through every option and test that option to see if It will Breed Success. I took today to promise myself that I will take these blogs and mend them together into a speech. I am going to contact a local venue of some sort - and give a motivational speech for free. Do I fear doing this? No I do not because I have learned to  look at  fear as my best friend. I look Fear in the eyes and say, "Pal, enjoy the ride, this is just the beginning." In one of my songs - I have a line which I absolutely love and would like to share with all of you readers. -"If I found a way out of this place, I'd dig a tunnel to where you'd be. All my fears would stand face to face, and never crumble until defeat."  The part that I want to emphasize is - All my fears would stand face to face, and never crumble until defeat. I want each and every one of you to write down what you fear and go do it. Look at fear and say, "I WILL DEFEAT YOU!!!" - Do whatever it is that you have been dying to do even if Its going to a class where you feel  worried about being seen. Plant your Dream-Seed, Water it, and let it grow.

Enjoy the Weekend,

Geoff

The strangest Secret

Our thoughts become things and for every action there is a reaction said Earl Nightingale.  Lets try an experiment - take the next 30 days to understand that we become what we think most about - realize that as we sew so shall we reap.  I want you to refuse to believe that any circumstance can defeat you from your purpose and/or goal.  use your imagination - have courage - take action! Each of us want something and each of us is afraid of something. Write on a card what it is that you wish most - whatever it may be write it out specifically and carry it with you in your wallet.  If you wish to be rich so be it, if you wish to attract more clients so be it, if you wish to score high a on test so be it, whatever it is - WRITE IT DOWN!!  When you get out of bed in the morning look at this goal, when you are trucking along throughout your day take a look at the goal. Really believe in this goal and make it something worthwhile to live for.  Stop thinking about what it is you fear. each time you fear something replace the negative thought with your positive thoughts and of course your goal. For 30 days take control of your mind and each day do more than you have to. If you are a salesman be all that you can be, if you are a painter, really be creative, etc etc. Give of yourself more than you ever have and realize that your returns must be in direct proportion in which you give.  Do not concern yourself with how you will achieve your goal - just know where you are going and the answers will come to you - The universal law will  assist you in your journey.  You do not have to share your goal with anyone besides yourself. Remember, and if you wish, write these words on the other side of your card - Ask and it shall be given. seek and ya shall find, knock and it shall be open to you.  I wish you all luck and if you find that you have failed to maintain a positive outlook from now until your 30 day journey is up -  start over. The Three s's of life

I promised myself I would pay homage to my Dad for teaching me this theory that I live by day to day. In life there is a need for balance in everything we do. We must eat healthy but allow ourselves to splurge and enjoy the riches of life. We must take it easy throughout the week but allow ourselves to go out and get crazy every so often. This balance is what keeps life fun and entertaining. My Dad had told me when I was very young that their were three areas in life that need to be focused on which were; Sports, Social, and School.  Our first S - which is Sports reminds us of how our body is doing. How active are we? are we getting enough exercise, eating the right foods, getting enough sleep, and keeping both our bodies and minds in good shape.  The second S - Stands for Social which reminds us to interact and meet new people. How often are we going out with friends and not secluding ourselves, are we taking that leap of faith to meet new friends and contacts in our lives, and are we keeping our sexual selves happy as well.  The last S - stands for School which really means work or what I like to call our career. How well are you performing in your current position in the world. Are you happy getting up every morning? Are you completing the necessary tasks for promotion or to make more money? and are you doing the best that you can do every single day of your life?  These three S's are absolutely necessary to survive in life. If one S is down it affects the other two. Think about it - if your Sports "S" is down, are you going to feel happy with yourself to go out and raise your Social "S" Are you going to have the confidence to be fully focused at work and make business transactions? - More than likely No.  If your School "S" is down are you going to have enough money to be able to raise your Sports "S" and afford a gym membership to better yourself? Are you going to have the finances to go out to raise your Social "S"  These are just some examples for you to realize how important balance is in our lives, especially in these three areas of life. I am also a firm believer in stepping out of our comfort zones and doing things that we have never done but have an interest in. I attended a Dhyana Yoga Class around the block last night and was so impressed I will go back because it put me in a very soothing meditative state. I also have been performing my music in front of more people than I ever thought I would.  These two actions have drastically changed my life because I am so happy and happiness is the most important aspect in life. You will attract more to you, You will feel better, and You will succeed if you are simply happy. I hope all of you can take the three S's and  apply them to your life.  Make each day a new adventure and most importantly always be your best.

The power of your old pal - Silly putty

Recently I had a Reiki Massage, which for all of you who do not know is an energy healing massage. The rush of energy I received was great and the images in my minds eye were also very incredible. The Reiki Practitioner who is actually a friend of mine  was able to see images as well. She asked me if I currently work with any sort of molds or ceramic of some sort - I told her I have been thinking about picking up some clay but did not want to make a mess playing with it. Last night I had a dream where I was playing with clay - molding and making different shapes which was very stimulating and relaxing. Today I went to the local art shop and for 2$ I picked up some silly putty. I decided to put it to the test and started to play. After what felt like 5 minutes I noticed a half hour passed by and I was stimulating my mind beyond belief. Ideas were coming to me about my music, about the blogs, and I was receiving emails and messages from people that I have not spoken to in quite some time. I was observing more synchronicity than usual and  understood why my dreams pointed me in this direction. If there is something that you can do for yourself to relieve stress during the workday or during a time where you need to unwind, do yourself a favor - Put on relaxing music and pick up some silly putty. It is only 2 bucks and its worth every penny. This will work miracles to empty out your chaotic mind and relax you. The Creative Whack pack is also brilliant which can be found at Creativewhack.com - this was created by  Roger Von Oech and can be used as a tool when you are stuck with how to attack an idea. Well I hope all of you have a relaxing afternoon!

you aren't progressing and your wondering why?

Ever wonder why you get to a certain point at mastering something and then you cannot progress? Maybe you have a repressed talent that you hide from the world or even scarier you hide from yourself. The term is called limited belief's and it means when you believe in something based on what others have told you throughout your life. Certain doubts layer themselves on top of your dreams and ambitions. As a young child you are free from this ego based living, and as you grow up you get told/hear things, which you are brainwashed to believe. One of the first words you are taught as a child is the word NO - We were programmed NOT  to do certain things to protect ourselves from danger. This safety mechanism is definitely good therefore we don't jump out of airplanes or try and climb out of moving cars, but this is damaging to an area in our lives where we are trying to expand. As a child in grade school you are also teased by  your peers which can have an effect on the things you do as an adult. I remember being a young guy and seeing my dad play the piano - I always thought he was very good but he told me he got to a certain point and couldn't master it any more. When I began playing guitar I remember having this belief because it is what I had heard.  I was always told by my parents that I could do anything and the sky was the limit but something inside of me felt that I could not progress past a certain point on the guitar. After realizing how good I could become with enough practice, I began realizing my potential as a guitarist and progressively got better.  It is quite normal to have limiting beliefs in certain areas of your life. If there is a passion or something that interest you but you are afraid of what others might think - give it a try. It takes a lot of courage to do something against the opinions and views of other people. I did an open mic last night and saw a young girl get up on stage and play for her very first time- her voice was not that great but everyone in the room clapped the loudest for her because she took a chance to get up in front of 50 people or so. I forever live by this quote - "To do less than your very best is to sacrifice the gift."   Today is the day - do something you fear, take an idea that you are afraid to run with and sprint!

Enjoy the day

tapping into your 6th sense

I have done some recent reading on the 6th sense and being able to tap into powers beyond physical realms.  Many people live only utilizing the 5 senses and never make way to the 6th. I was doing some research when I came across the idea of automated writing. This is  the process or production of writing material that does not come from the conscious thoughts of the writer.  I have heard of this before and decided to sit down comfortably and write out questions  that were on my mind.  Here's how the process works;

Choose a topic that is on your mind, something that you may be having difficulty figuring out or dealing with  - Mine was how can I write more songs -  yours may be - how can I meet my soul mate or how can I make more money in my current job or how can I lose weight - etc.

Ask a question and just start writing an answer based on how you feel. Do not actually think about your answer/response. Let it flow out naturally.

Responses may come in the form of questions or statements - for instance you may ask how can I write better tunes - the answer may come as, "when was the last time you wrote a tune?"or  "how often do you practice a night?"  etc etc

When asked how often do I practice a night - my answer was; "maybe about an hour - followed by - Why only an hour? -  (this may seem strange to you at first in that you are typing out a conversation with yourself but after a while you will realize these answers come deep within and will actually help you).

The objective is to just freely write whatever is on your mind  without really thinking about it. I like the question and answer format because It allows me to take a problem  and see it attacked at different angles. If you prefer you can even just freely write whatever is on your mind - this is also very helpful.  Have fun with it and unlock your inner being.

Good luck,

Geoff

Believe in yourself

This blog is being written because many people complain about things that aren't working for them. I workout every day but I cant lose weight, I am working so hard at my business but do not generate enough income, I am told my product is the best but no one buys. Do any of these sound familiar?!? Well there is a reason your wishes and goals aren't being granted. YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! We need to believe in ourselves before the universal law will grant us our wishes. There is a reason why two sales people, in the same territory, with the same product, college degree, and knowledge have totally different incomes. Salesperson A makes over 6 Figures while Salesperson B struggles to make commission. If any of you have ever heard of metaphysics or the law of attraction  you already know that we create our life circumstances by what we think about. When you set your mind to having something you want and you allow yourself to feel what it would be like to have that something, YOU ALWAYS GET IT!  When you focus on the negative of something you attract more of that.  The minute you shift your mindset to the positive side of the spectrum, the universal law will manifest your desires for you. Many people think this theory is psychobabble while a select few know its true power. Next time you find yourself complaining that you cant do something or you cannot get to where you want to be, shift your mind set. Write on a dry erase board   - "I am willing to allow myself to _________"  "I am working towards my goal of _____"  I promise you this is the most powerful law in the world. This will change your life. Post the dry erase board somewhere in your home or apartment where you can see it everyday!  If you have any questions on the specifics go out and buy The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, Or get the mother of all books - "Ask And It Is Given"   by Esther and Jerry Hicks.  If you have any questions feel free to email me - Ggoodm42@yahoo.com, in that i am very passionate about this subject and it can work wonders for you!

Have a great weekend and remember anything is possible in this infinite world!

When life gets boring... CHANGE IT UP!!

Have you ever found yourself in a rut - or what you think is a rut. You criticize yourself for feeling so negative and you feel sorry for yourself. Maybe your just bored of the same lonely apartment you have been stuck in for a few days. Maybe you are tired of doing the same work day in and day out. CHANGE IT UP!!!!  These three words or shall I say this  "Action" will save your life.  I have spoken to several people in the past few days who have told me they were bored to death with their lives. "What should I do?" they ask -  I am not motivated to do anything right now, I am really sad, I cant focus, etc etc etc.  When I first hear this I think back to a time when I was in the same situation and how I cleared space in my head. The first step is to identify the exact problem. Is the problem that you are not enjoying the specifics  of what you are doing? Is the problem that you are not having enough social interactions? Is the problem that you are neglecting areas of your life? Whatever it may be, you need to identify it. The example I am going to touch on  is about a friend who recently came to me and said that he was lonely. He was studying for a degree in medicine which took up the majority of his day and he felt that he had no time to do anything besides study.  I said to to my friend, " You are sitting here on the computer moping to me about your life - therefore you have enough time on your hands to do something else besides study." He laughed and explained how he has no friends where he is and lives by himself.
Here are the series of questions I presented to him based on our conversation - are you lonely because you do not have a roommate? Do you secretly not like the work you are doing? or are you spending too much time by yourself?  He told me that he was in the process of looking for a roommate for the following semester and meets with his friends on the weekends. He further explained that he  spends way too much time cramped up in his apartment, studying day in and day out.  As people we crave for attention and even the smallest amount of social interaction is enough to make us smile. I told him that maybe he can try studying in a public setting such as a library or a coffee shop - he got excited. I told him not to worry about the following semesters roommate and to worry about NOW - or the importance of doing well in his program. He agreed  and said that he chose to study medicine due to his passion for it not because he was forced to. We continued to discuss and i told him that by focusing his attention on the work as something he likes he  can make it a more enjoyable process.  As we went on and on I explained that even the most dedicated and passionate people need to step away from their work to partake in a recreational activity. We suggested; the gym, doing a hobby of some sort, going to the mall, reading a book, etc etc.  People cannot submerge themselves in something 24/7 without enjoying other areas in life. Some of the greatest people in history were musicians but also sculptors, inventors but also musicians, philosophers but also dancers. He told me he is going to study at the library and on his off times, attend classes at the gym or do an activity he used to enjoy.  I was very happy to see how easily he shifted from being sad to happy. He was very negative in the beginning of our conversation, and became very positive towards the end. It was nice to see this sort of excitement. Many do not realize the importance of change. I listened to a lecture from a friend at a toastmasters  club, who explained how using Feng Shui in a home or office is extremely effective for changing ones mindset. By clearing the clutter in your home or office you become less stressed out and more at peace. Next time you are feeling down ask yourself this simple question - How can I relieve my stress by changing what I am doing. This will surely enhance your life.

Enjoy your week,

The Color of Passion

Passion as defined by the dictionary; an intense desire or enthusiasm for something. A strong and barely controllable emotion.

Why am I bringing up passion today? I sat down with a good friend from toastmasters earlier and we spoke for a good 2 hours on why some people are successful and some are not. He explained to me that successful people have a certain passion for what they do in life. These people decided from a young age what it is they wanted and set their mind to that, no matter how many times he/she failed.  Nothing can come in the way of a person who is passionate about something. I spoke about flow during a prior post, which is when you reach a level, where nothing matters, and you are passionate about what you are doing. You get lost in the moment, and nothing else matters. I  know 100% that each and every one of us has a passion for something in life. This passion may be to read, to write, to speak, to play music, to dance, to cook, to care for young children, to operate, etc etc. Most of us never fulfill our passions because of self doubt for one reason or another.  I watched a great movie last night, Fight Club, which presented a scene that has been haunting me all morning. The scene was when Brad Pitt held a gun up to a mans head and said something along the lines of, "What is it that you dreamt of doing in life!"  the man who was  petrified responded with, "I don't know, Please don't shoot me, I don't want to die!"  Brad Pitt explains to him that he will die if he does not answer this simple question. The man finally blurts out that he wanted to be a veterinarian all of his life, but it was too much schooling.  Brad Pitt asked, " Do you want to die outside of your convenient store or are you going to run home and pursue your dreams?"  I thought this scene was absolutely brilliant and very powerful.  What if your life was on the line and you were asked, what it is that you are most passionate about - What did you dream of doing the rest of your life as a young child ? What do you dream of doing now? How would you answer? what would your reasoning be that you are not accomplishing what it is that you dream most about? would you sadly say that it would take too long? that there are a million people out there doing it already? or something along the lines of, my dream is impossible? - lets use an example we often hear about actors and actresses.  Many people want to become famous actors or actresses though many don't stay persistent enough to see the light at the end of the tunnel - Why?  because after failing to get the part he or she wanted multiple times, many start having doubts. These people think that there are a million people chasing the same dream and if I haven't succeeded yet I never will. These people are chasing the dream for the wrong reason and see fame and money as the prime motivator. I feel that the people who caught the dream, stayed determined through the thick and thin. these individuals poured their heart and soul into what he or she was doing. These actors and actresses that we see on television have a passion to act. The fame and money are just bonuses. These people who are famous and successful are the ones giving back to the less fortunate with their earnings. These people know that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! One of my favorite actors, Jim Carrey, was booed off stage in the early part of his career. After the show he sat on top of Hollywood Hills and wrote a check to himself for 10 million dollars with the memo - "For services rendered." This man is now one of the highest paid actors in the business. Jim Carrey had a vision for himself, he had the heart and soul, and he stayed persistent, no matter how many times he was rejected.  Any dream big or small is possible, you just need to dust off what you have learned, and clearly define what it is that you want. What color is your passion? Ask  yourself, "What are my dreams, What will I do to get there, and how long will it take me." Then say to yourself, " My Dreams are real, What I think about most is my reality, and anything is possible." I hope all of you have a great week!

the power of our words

I was reading the other day when I came across something very important that most of us have become oblivious to. Our words can either curse or bless another individual. We can use our words like  magicians and create pure happiness into our lives or we can use these words with negativity and create hell.  I want to take my point a step further - There was a little girl about the age of 12 who was a great dancer. This little girl took dance class, dreamed of being a dancer,  and all she did was smile when she was dancing. The little girls mother comes home one day from a rough day of work, and out of irritation yells, "stop dancing! you are terrible just stop!"  This little girl never danced another day in her life.  She was so sad and felt so bad about herself that she neglected a skill that could have led her to a career.  This is just an example of how powerful our words can be. If you ever have done something great and someone tells you - Great job! you feel confident and you want to do it more and more. If someone tells you that you are terrible at something it makes you feel awful and you fear doing something you could have been great at. Another example is when you meet someone new and your circle of friends talks poorly about that person - these words make you believe that this new "truth" is the real truth, and the person is no good. You decide its best not to hang out with this person and potentially miss many opportunities.
I thought this was great to blog about since so many of us get caught up reading the news or listening to what others say 24/7. After awhile you start believing certain ideas which can lead to depression and confusion. Language is a virus; it can be a beautiful one. Be aware of the things you say to others and the words you absorb - You never know whose life you are affecting or shall i say, infecting.

our deepest desires

I have been doing a lot of thinking and some meditation lately, and I have discovered something very important. Our true self is deep inside us already, and we do not need  to go searching for it. Every time I hear a friend say, "I need a girlfriend or a boyfriend"  I always respond with,  "don't look for it, let it come to you."  This brings me to an important point - Everything is brought to our attention when we NEED it and allow it,  not when we WANT it.   Before these desires come into our atmosphere we need to be grateful for what we have and who we are. When I become sidetracked and I do not show gratitude this is when I am at my worst - on the flip side when I become grateful for my friends, family, skills i have developed, good health, etc etc. I become happy and things flow towards me easily.
I was in a deep meditation session recently, when my body became numb and I was not conscious of my breathing. I have attained this state before but this time it was special. I saw myself on a beach for a few seconds then that image faded out. I began to see crystal clear water resting in my cupped palms and certain thoughts crossed my mind. I tried hard to keep them out and in little flashes, I had thoughts of clarity - things that I am meant to be doing, want, and need, I already know and have.  This was the lesson that I learned. I got up from the meditation and thought this was too simple to be true. These obtainable dreams, ideas and desires, that we have, are deep inside of us, but smothered with doubt.  Throughout our lifetime many of us are told we can and cannot do certain things and that we should do one thing rather than another. these beliefs get embedded into our brains and ultimately cause blocks in the flowing energy system. It is important to recognize these blocks and clear them immediately. We cannot live other peoples lives, in that what is good for one person is not good for the next.  We as people also look too hard for things instead of letting them come to us. Next time you go out - Say to yourself, "I don't expect much, just the best."  Clear your mind of any doubt and just enjoy being with the people you love - whether it be friends, family, co-workers, or total strangers. Ever notice you meet someone when you least expect it? ever notice ideas come when your not thinking too much? there is a reason for this - In the still of the moment is where  our deepest desires can be found and things flow to us when we LET them. Too many people focus on what they don't have rather than what they want. If you want more money - do not focus on the lack of money, Focus on the amount that you desire; how it feels, tastes, looks like, etc etc. Meditation is a great way to calm the mind and get rid of the negative thoughts we are fed throughout the day. Exercise and healthy eating is another great way to put ourself on the positive end of the spectrum.  When we practice these techniques and focus on the positive  rather than the negative, we can begin to feel good and attract what we desire most.

have a great day,

Geoff

Nurturing your inner child aka become more creative

Happy Friday everyone! I hope all of you are doing well and getting excited for the warm weather to come this weekend!  The blog today is about nurturing your inner child. You may  have heard the term, "inner child" used before and thought, wow thats really odd. Everyone has a playful and creative side to them though many people do not keep this creativity and playfulness alive. Many people suffer from stress and simply live their lives too seriously. I recently got caught up reading a book called, "The Artists Way" - by Julia Cameron, which goes through steps that you can take to keep your creativity candle lit and discover your true self . She highlights that we must spend time to ourselves going on adventures whether it be to an art museum, a stroll around the park, or simply doing something that made us happy as a young child.  This is called our Artists date. It may seem odd at first going somewhere or spending time alone especially if you have trouble being by yourself. After a while of doing it, the process becomes second nature and you enjoy the adventures you embark on.  The next thing she calls for is to keep a journal in the morning. (I found you can do this both in the morning and night time). This journal is meant to free up the clutter that is in your mind and allow you to express your true self more freely. Ms. Cameron states that even if you have nothing to write about just write! write blah blah blah blah if you have to.  I did both of these exercises and at first felt very odd. I felt like I was keeping a diary and was spending too much time alone. After a month of doing this I started realizing I was becoming more creative and when I was with my friends I was interpreting things from a different angle.  I was saying and writing ideas that were absolutely brilliant.  The book discusses further how you can free up the clutter in your head and live a more enjoyable and creative lifestyle. I am excited for all you to try these ideas and for those who do not - so be it. If at this point you think this is nonsense and you have doubts - you may go onto amazon.com  and read the reviews on the book. There you will  see that even the top ceos and executives in companies use these methods.

I wish you all the best

enjoy the moment

Enjoy the moment.  What exactly does this mean? People always throw this phrase around as much as the infamous three words; I -Love - You. Parents tell you to enjoy the moment, teachers tell you to enjoy the moment, and friends tell you to enjoy the moment. Before I embarked on my journey to discover my true self, I had trouble understanding what my peers meant when they told me to simply enjoy the moment. I would attempt to do multiple things at once, only to do one or more of the tasks carelessly. I would miss the enjoyment of the conversation or what I was doing. I would miss the lessons of life and the opportunities that were present. I was in such a hurry all the time and I was becoming stressed out. When we become aware of the moment as a still shot rather than an ongoing scene, we understand the clear purpose that has been presented before us. We notice the beauty in what others are saying, in artwork, and life itself. The opportunities that we may chose to accept or decline become more apparent and we feel more relaxed. We enjoy tasks such as; doing the dishes, sitting in traffic with the radio on, and buying food at the crowded supermarket. For a minute I'd like you to stop reading these words. Close your eyes and think about what you were doing an hour ago and how it has affected your life. Try to picture what the moment looked like, smelled like, and maybe even tasted like. Was it just another event to check off on your schedule or did you actually enjoy yourself? did you learn anything? did you feel relaxed or stressed? Ask yourself many questions about the moment. Doing this on a daily basis can increase your awareness and make you realize life is about enjoyment not being stressed 24/7. Meditation techniques are great and are proven to relax the mind, body, and soul. If everyone in the world would just pause for a second, stop what he or she is doing, and simply enjoy, society would be a much brighter place.

Why be jealous?

Lately I have been hearing stories of people becoming jealous of other individuals. I often wonder why we as humans get so caught up in what other people have and  we end up drowning in our own pool of lack. If we focus on what WE already have, including; our talents, possessions, friendships, family, and our own well being we would be much happier. It is common to envy another individual for their successes, though it is often overlooked, that the possibilities on this planet are endless. We can be and do whatever our heart desires. Next time you find yourself jealous of another individual ask yourself one question. Do not ask -  "How can I get where he/she is."  Ask - "How can I get where I want to be." We All have our own unique set of talents and desires. What makes one person happy may not make you happy. I promise if you follow your heart you can have whatever you want, whether it is a childhood dream or earning a million dollars. The possibilities are endless - learn to bend the light and be YOU.

enjoy your weekend,

Geoff Goodman

Living in Flow

Flow is a term which was coined by Psychologist - Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, that is defined as; the mental state of operation in which a person is fully immersed in what he or she is doing by a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity.
Many of us reach this state from time to time without even realizing it. We may miss a meal, an obligation, or some other activity due to our involvement in the project. It is important to recognize these moments of flow in that they will help us understand what makes us truly happy. A good exercise to do, if you are like most people whom hate a job you are in, or you just want to figure out what you can do on your free time is to write down moments that you can remember reaching a state of flow. Focus on when you have felt good about doing a project or activity. From what you have written down branch out to something closely related to what you have down. For example; If you say you reach flow every time you analyze a new song you have just put onto your ipod, maybe consider becoming a DJ for parties. Evidently you enjoy listening to music enough to get lost in your own world.  If you say you really get excited and reach flow when your drawing caricatures of your friends, maybe consider doing this at parties and events.  These moments of flow happy at times when we are truly happy and doing what we are meant to be doing. Like synchronicity, harness the powerful energy and let it move you forward in life.

have a great afternoon!

Utilizing your life's compass

Ever have a day when you are feeling down- possibly about yourself or your current situation? This is a normal part of life. I was recently feeling a bit under the weather and negative thoughts were forming in my mind. I am a very positive guy and was a bit concerned about these thoughts. I shut my eyes and attempted to remember a day in the recent past that I was happy. I made a mental list of the things that I did on that day and  realized something so important about feeling good.  When we are doing the things that we enjoy doing in life, we  are in full alignment with our true selves. Our feelings act as a guide to lead us in the right direction or the wrong direction in life.  This idea is so simple yet overlooked by many. I decided to ask myself another question to get some more clarification. At which moments was I the most happy when I was working at my last job?  I realized the days that I incorporated my passions into my life, whether it be that morning or evening, were the days that I was truly content. These were the days that I did not let stress bother me and  everything fell into place perfectly. I advise all of you to look back on your past and dig up the things that you have enjoyed doing and make you happy. These things as petty as they may seem make up your life's compass. Use your feelings as a guide and you will sure discover your true self.

ask the universe for anything and you will receive it!

Recently I have been doing a lot of reading on the universal law aka the law of attraction or as some know it, (the secret).  Some people think that this law is for crazy people while know that this law is real. When "the secret" came out, many people started believing in the phenomenon of being able to ask for things from the universe and actually receive them.  Oprah, glamorized the book and made nonbelievers - into believers. I read the book a while back and ended up doing a ton of research, which dated back to the early 1900's. I learned different terms for the secret such as metaphysics and the formless substance. I read and continue to read many great books, about great authors, and teachers of the subject and how they became successful.
I knew I always had a thing for coincidences and synchronicity. In the past I always noticed when people would say things to me and these things became true. Certain people were being mentioned to me and then moments later or days later called me out of the blue. I did not know how to harness the energy until recently.
I decided to test this law out when my mom asked me how she could attract a dental hygiene job down in Florida. Her thoughts were so clouded with this economy garbage and I told  her to focus on what she wanted and to think positively. I said, Mom- repeat a mantra everyday - this mantra was. "I allow the universal law to work with me and for me,  to attract opportunities into my life. " I told her to say this every morning and every night. All she thought about was getting the job and 3 days later was presented two opportunities in one day! - incredible I thought. A few days later was my final day at work. After I left my position, I asked the universe for some help. I said that I wanted certain types of jobs to come into my life especially those with high income and were flexible. After a week of doing what I call, "the flash card method" these opportunities and individuals came to me.   To further test the idea - I told all of my friends that I was going to attract a silver half dollar by the end of this week. It did not matter how I got this half dollar. I thought about having it in the now. I never let doubt creep its way into my mind. I began asking places for a half dollar when receiving change and people thought i was nuts. I stopped doing this and started looking around for the half dollar. I had not one in my apartment, I did not find one on the street, nor did any of my friends have one. I went to the post office today to send a letter out  and upon receiving 66 cents in change, I looked at the cashier and asked, "If you had a half dollar that'd be a great help, I do not want to carry all of this change." She looked at me and  responded, "i actually have one left."  This proved to me that anything is possible.

Sink. Float. or Swim its your choice

In life we have many options. We can either Sink and be nothing. Spend our lives not forming any relationships, never using our skills,  and ultimately becoming meaningless. We can also Float and feel safe for our whole lives. Never take chances, never step out of our comfort zones, and never face our fears. Or  we can  Swim. Swim out into the distance, down into the great oceans floor, around the coral reefs and feel empowered. We can discover the unknown and go on an adventure. We can take chances and learn from our achievements and mistakes. We can jump over hurdles with the possibility of tripping and falling down.
While Swimming is the best option, in my opinion,  many people still choose to Float their whole lives away. These people never move forward and it ends up taking a life changing event to change his/her ways. These people need the events; such as being fired from a job, seeing something they dont want to see, hearing something they dont want to hear, and experiencing something they do not want before moving away from the comfort zone. Few people choose to swim.  I want you to make a pact with yourself that you will do something you fear doing at least once today. Whether you read this next week or the week after set a goal and reach high for that goal. Whether its standing in front of a group of people, voicing your opinion, or speaking to an old friend. Face your fear and remember,  "Fear only the fear of never trying; for you may neglect the greatest gifts."
