Meditation

Many people meditate to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, aches and pains, feel healthy, and because its proven to have MANY MANY MANY  benefits to ones well being. Recently I have been taking 20 minutes a day to myself to meditate which has really helped me appreciate more in life and feel less stress during my day to day. A great technique to try is - sitting in an upright position on a chair of if you can cross your legs like the Buddhist - by all means go for it. If you feel your back straining you may put a pillow behind it to comfort yourself in this upright position. Relax your mind and shut your eyes - Take a deep breath and count 1 thousand, 2 thousand, 3 thousand, and release the breath counting in the same fashion. Do this three times (3 sets of 1-2-3-). After your third set sit and enjoy the moment. Continue to breathe but do not focus so much on the breath. Try not to think about anything you need to do in the future nor anything you have done in the past. Just enjoy the feeling - After a few moments  -  Breathe again - 1-2-3-. And let your mind wander where it wants to. Listen to the outside noises for a moment or two and return to the sounds of your breath. Focus on different things throughout your session and just allow. Do not try and force anything - Allow your thoughts to flow freely. Things will come up in a session whether it be memories, lost dreams, ideas, or friends you have not spoken to in some time. Just allow! - Set an alarm on your phone that is not too loud -and try this for a few days @ 15-20 Minutes.  I promise you will see a difference in your day to day. For further explanation check out Youtube and type in meditation techniques or music - they have a lot of great videos!

Enjoy the week!
