The strangest Secret

Our thoughts become things and for every action there is a reaction said Earl Nightingale.  Lets try an experiment - take the next 30 days to understand that we become what we think most about - realize that as we sew so shall we reap.  I want you to refuse to believe that any circumstance can defeat you from your purpose and/or goal.  use your imagination - have courage - take action! Each of us want something and each of us is afraid of something. Write on a card what it is that you wish most - whatever it may be write it out specifically and carry it with you in your wallet.  If you wish to be rich so be it, if you wish to attract more clients so be it, if you wish to score high a on test so be it, whatever it is - WRITE IT DOWN!!  When you get out of bed in the morning look at this goal, when you are trucking along throughout your day take a look at the goal. Really believe in this goal and make it something worthwhile to live for.  Stop thinking about what it is you fear. each time you fear something replace the negative thought with your positive thoughts and of course your goal. For 30 days take control of your mind and each day do more than you have to. If you are a salesman be all that you can be, if you are a painter, really be creative, etc etc. Give of yourself more than you ever have and realize that your returns must be in direct proportion in which you give.  Do not concern yourself with how you will achieve your goal - just know where you are going and the answers will come to you - The universal law will  assist you in your journey.  You do not have to share your goal with anyone besides yourself. Remember, and if you wish, write these words on the other side of your card - Ask and it shall be given. seek and ya shall find, knock and it shall be open to you.  I wish you all luck and if you find that you have failed to maintain a positive outlook from now until your 30 day journey is up -  start over. Best of Luck!

The Three s's of life

I promised myself I would pay homage to my Dad for teaching me this theory that I live by day to day. In life there is a need for balance in everything we do. We must eat healthy but allow ourselves to splurge and enjoy the riches of life. We must take it easy throughout the week but allow ourselves to go out and get crazy every so often. This balance is what keeps life fun and entertaining. My Dad had told me when I was very young that their were three areas in life that need to be focused on which were; Sports, Social, and School.  Our first S - which is Sports reminds us of how our body is doing. How active are we? are we getting enough exercise, eating the right foods, getting enough sleep, and keeping both our bodies and minds in good shape.  The second S - Stands for Social which reminds us to interact and meet new people. How often are we going out with friends and not secluding ourselves, are we taking that leap of faith to meet new friends and contacts in our lives, and are we keeping our sexual selves happy as well.  The last S - stands for School which really means work or what I like to call our career. How well are you performing in your current position in the world. Are you happy getting up every morning? Are you completing the necessary tasks for promotion or to make more money? and are you doing the best that you can do every single day of your life?  These three S's are absolutely necessary to survive in life. If one S is down it affects the other two. Think about it - if your Sports "S" is down, are you going to feel happy with yourself to go out and raise your Social "S" Are you going to have the confidence to be fully focused at work and make business transactions? - More than likely No.  If your School "S" is down are you going to have enough money to be able to raise your Sports "S" and afford a gym membership to better yourself? Are you going to have the finances to go out to raise your Social "S"  These are just some examples for you to realize how important balance is in our lives, especially in these three areas of life. I am also a firm believer in stepping out of our comfort zones and doing things that we have never done but have an interest in. I attended a Dhyana Yoga Class around the block last night and was so impressed I will go back because it put me in a very soothing meditative state. I also have been performing my music in front of more people than I ever thought I would.  These two actions have drastically changed my life because I am so happy and happiness is the most important aspect in life. You will attract more to you, You will feel better, and You will succeed if you are simply happy. I hope all of you can take the three S's and  apply them to your life.  Make each day a new adventure and most importantly always be your best.

The power of your old pal - Silly putty

Recently I had a Reiki Massage, which for all of you who do not know is an energy healing massage. The rush of energy I received was great and the images in my minds eye were also very incredible. The Reiki Practitioner who is actually a friend of mine  was able to see images as well. She asked me if I currently work with any sort of molds or ceramic of some sort - I told her I have been thinking about picking up some clay but did not want to make a mess playing with it. Last night I had a dream where I was playing with clay - molding and making different shapes which was very stimulating and relaxing. Today I went to the local art shop and for 2$ I picked up some silly putty. I decided to put it to the test and started to play. After what felt like 5 minutes I noticed a half hour passed by and I was stimulating my mind beyond belief. Ideas were coming to me about my music, about the blogs, and I was receiving emails and messages from people that I have not spoken to in quite some time. I was observing more synchronicity than usual and  understood why my dreams pointed me in this direction. If there is something that you can do for yourself to relieve stress during the workday or during a time where you need to unwind, do yourself a favor - Put on relaxing music and pick up some silly putty. It is only 2 bucks and its worth every penny. This will work miracles to empty out your chaotic mind and relax you. The Creative Whack pack is also brilliant which can be found at Creativewhack.com - this was created by  Roger Von Oech and can be used as a tool when you are stuck with how to attack an idea. Well I hope all of you have a relaxing afternoon!

you aren't progressing and your wondering why?

Ever wonder why you get to a certain point at mastering something and then you cannot progress? Maybe you have a repressed talent that you hide from the world or even scarier you hide from yourself. The term is called limited belief's and it means when you believe in something based on what others have told you throughout your life. Certain doubts layer themselves on top of your dreams and ambitions. As a young child you are free from this ego based living, and as you grow up you get told/hear things, which you are brainwashed to believe. One of the first words you are taught as a child is the word NO - We were programmed NOT  to do certain things to protect ourselves from danger. This safety mechanism is definitely good therefore we don't jump out of airplanes or try and climb out of moving cars, but this is damaging to an area in our lives where we are trying to expand. As a child in grade school you are also teased by  your peers which can have an effect on the things you do as an adult. I remember being a young guy and seeing my dad play the piano - I always thought he was very good but he told me he got to a certain point and couldn't master it any more. When I began playing guitar I remember having this belief because it is what I had heard.  I was always told by my parents that I could do anything and the sky was the limit but something inside of me felt that I could not progress past a certain point on the guitar. After realizing how good I could become with enough practice, I began realizing my potential as a guitarist and progressively got better.  It is quite normal to have limiting beliefs in certain areas of your life. If there is a passion or something that interest you but you are afraid of what others might think - give it a try. It takes a lot of courage to do something against the opinions and views of other people. I did an open mic last night and saw a young girl get up on stage and play for her very first time- her voice was not that great but everyone in the room clapped the loudest for her because she took a chance to get up in front of 50 people or so. I forever live by this quote - "To do less than your very best is to sacrifice the gift."   Today is the day - do something you fear, take an idea that you are afraid to run with and sprint!

Enjoy the day

tapping into your 6th sense

I have done some recent reading on the 6th sense and being able to tap into powers beyond physical realms.  Many people live only utilizing the 5 senses and never make way to the 6th. I was doing some research when I came across the idea of automated writing. This is  the process or production of writing material that does not come from the conscious thoughts of the writer.  I have heard of this before and decided to sit down comfortably and write out questions  that were on my mind.  Here's how the process works;

Choose a topic that is on your mind, something that you may be having difficulty figuring out or dealing with  - Mine was how can I write more songs -  yours may be - how can I meet my soul mate or how can I make more money in my current job or how can I lose weight - etc.

Ask a question and just start writing an answer based on how you feel. Do not actually think about your answer/response. Let it flow out naturally.

Responses may come in the form of questions or statements - for instance you may ask how can I write better tunes - the answer may come as, "when was the last time you wrote a tune?"or  "how often do you practice a night?"  etc etc

When asked how often do I practice a night - my answer was; "maybe about an hour - followed by - Why only an hour? -  (this may seem strange to you at first in that you are typing out a conversation with yourself but after a while you will realize these answers come deep within and will actually help you).

The objective is to just freely write whatever is on your mind  without really thinking about it. I like the question and answer format because It allows me to take a problem  and see it attacked at different angles. If you prefer you can even just freely write whatever is on your mind - this is also very helpful.  Have fun with it and unlock your inner being.

Good luck,

Geoff

Believe in yourself

This blog is being written because many people complain about things that aren't working for them. I workout every day but I cant lose weight, I am working so hard at my business but do not generate enough income, I am told my product is the best but no one buys. Do any of these sound familiar?!? Well there is a reason your wishes and goals aren't being granted. YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! We need to believe in ourselves before the universal law will grant us our wishes. There is a reason why two sales people, in the same territory, with the same product, college degree, and knowledge have totally different incomes. Salesperson A makes over 6 Figures while Salesperson B struggles to make commission. If any of you have ever heard of metaphysics or the law of attraction  you already know that we create our life circumstances by what we think about. When you set your mind to having something you want and you allow yourself to feel what it would be like to have that something, YOU ALWAYS GET IT!  When you focus on the negative of something you attract more of that.  The minute you shift your mindset to the positive side of the spectrum, the universal law will manifest your desires for you. Many people think this theory is psychobabble while a select few know its true power. Next time you find yourself complaining that you cant do something or you cannot get to where you want to be, shift your mind set. Write on a dry erase board   - "I am willing to allow myself to _________"  "I am working towards my goal of _____"  I promise you this is the most powerful law in the world. This will change your life. Post the dry erase board somewhere in your home or apartment where you can see it everyday!  If you have any questions on the specifics go out and buy The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, Or get the mother of all books - "Ask And It Is Given"   by Esther and Jerry Hicks.  If you have any questions feel free to email me - Ggoodm42@yahoo.com, in that i am very passionate about this subject and it can work wonders for you!

Have a great weekend and remember anything is possible in this infinite world!

When life gets boring... CHANGE IT UP!!

Have you ever found yourself in a rut - or what you think is a rut. You criticize yourself for feeling so negative and you feel sorry for yourself. Maybe your just bored of the same lonely apartment you have been stuck in for a few days. Maybe you are tired of doing the same work day in and day out. CHANGE IT UP!!!!  These three words or shall I say this  "Action" will save your life.  I have spoken to several people in the past few days who have told me they were bored to death with their lives. "What should I do?" they ask -  I am not motivated to do anything right now, I am really sad, I cant focus, etc etc etc.  When I first hear this I think back to a time when I was in the same situation and how I cleared space in my head. The first step is to identify the exact problem. Is the problem that you are not enjoying the specifics  of what you are doing? Is the problem that you are not having enough social interactions? Is the problem that you are neglecting areas of your life? Whatever it may be, you need to identify it. The example I am going to touch on  is about a friend who recently came to me and said that he was lonely. He was studying for a degree in medicine which took up the majority of his day and he felt that he had no time to do anything besides study.  I said to to my friend, " You are sitting here on the computer moping to me about your life - therefore you have enough time on your hands to do something else besides study." He laughed and explained how he has no friends where he is and lives by himself.
Here are the series of questions I presented to him based on our conversation - are you lonely because you do not have a roommate? Do you secretly not like the work you are doing? or are you spending too much time by yourself?  He told me that he was in the process of looking for a roommate for the following semester and meets with his friends on the weekends. He further explained that he  spends way too much time cramped up in his apartment, studying day in and day out.  As people we crave for attention and even the smallest amount of social interaction is enough to make us smile. I told him that maybe he can try studying in a public setting such as a library or a coffee shop - he got excited. I told him not to worry about the following semesters roommate and to worry about NOW - or the importance of doing well in his program. He agreed  and said that he chose to study medicine due to his passion for it not because he was forced to. We continued to discuss and i told him that by focusing his attention on the work as something he likes he  can make it a more enjoyable process.  As we went on and on I explained that even the most dedicated and passionate people need to step away from their work to partake in a recreational activity. We suggested; the gym, doing a hobby of some sort, going to the mall, reading a book, etc etc.  People cannot submerge themselves in something 24/7 without enjoying other areas in life. Some of the greatest people in history were musicians but also sculptors, inventors but also musicians, philosophers but also dancers. He told me he is going to study at the library and on his off times, attend classes at the gym or do an activity he used to enjoy.  I was very happy to see how easily he shifted from being sad to happy. He was very negative in the beginning of our conversation, and became very positive towards the end. It was nice to see this sort of excitement. Many do not realize the importance of change. I listened to a lecture from a friend at a toastmasters  club, who explained how using Feng Shui in a home or office is extremely effective for changing ones mindset. By clearing the clutter in your home or office you become less stressed out and more at peace. Next time you are feeling down ask yourself this simple question - How can I relieve my stress by changing what I am doing. This will surely enhance your life.

Enjoy your week,

The Color of Passion

Passion as defined by the dictionary; an intense desire or enthusiasm for something. A strong and barely controllable emotion.

Why am I bringing up passion today? I sat down with a good friend from toastmasters earlier and we spoke for a good 2 hours on why some people are successful and some are not. He explained to me that successful people have a certain passion for what they do in life. These people decided from a young age what it is they wanted and set their mind to that, no matter how many times he/she failed.  Nothing can come in the way of a person who is passionate about something. I spoke about flow during a prior post, which is when you reach a level, where nothing matters, and you are passionate about what you are doing. You get lost in the moment, and nothing else matters. I  know 100% that each and every one of us has a passion for something in life. This passion may be to read, to write, to speak, to play music, to dance, to cook, to care for young children, to operate, etc etc. Most of us never fulfill our passions because of self doubt for one reason or another.  I watched a great movie last night, Fight Club, which presented a scene that has been haunting me all morning. The scene was when Brad Pitt held a gun up to a mans head and said something along the lines of, "What is it that you dreamt of doing in life!"  the man who was  petrified responded with, "I don't know, Please don't shoot me, I don't want to die!"  Brad Pitt explains to him that he will die if he does not answer this simple question. The man finally blurts out that he wanted to be a veterinarian all of his life, but it was too much schooling.  Brad Pitt asked, " Do you want to die outside of your convenient store or are you going to run home and pursue your dreams?"  I thought this scene was absolutely brilliant and very powerful.  What if your life was on the line and you were asked, what it is that you are most passionate about - What did you dream of doing the rest of your life as a young child ? What do you dream of doing now? How would you answer? what would your reasoning be that you are not accomplishing what it is that you dream most about? would you sadly say that it would take too long? that there are a million people out there doing it already? or something along the lines of, my dream is impossible? - lets use an example we often hear about actors and actresses.  Many people want to become famous actors or actresses though many don't stay persistent enough to see the light at the end of the tunnel - Why?  because after failing to get the part he or she wanted multiple times, many start having doubts. These people think that there are a million people chasing the same dream and if I haven't succeeded yet I never will. These people are chasing the dream for the wrong reason and see fame and money as the prime motivator. I feel that the people who caught the dream, stayed determined through the thick and thin. these individuals poured their heart and soul into what he or she was doing. These actors and actresses that we see on television have a passion to act. The fame and money are just bonuses. These people who are famous and successful are the ones giving back to the less fortunate with their earnings. These people know that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! One of my favorite actors, Jim Carrey, was booed off stage in the early part of his career. After the show he sat on top of Hollywood Hills and wrote a check to himself for 10 million dollars with the memo - "For services rendered." This man is now one of the highest paid actors in the business. Jim Carrey had a vision for himself, he had the heart and soul, and he stayed persistent, no matter how many times he was rejected.  Any dream big or small is possible, you just need to dust off what you have learned, and clearly define what it is that you want. What color is your passion? Ask  yourself, "What are my dreams, What will I do to get there, and how long will it take me." Then say to yourself, " My Dreams are real, What I think about most is my reality, and anything is possible." I hope all of you have a great week!

the power of our words

I was reading the other day when I came across something very important that most of us have become oblivious to. Our words can either curse or bless another individual. We can use our words like  magicians and create pure happiness into our lives or we can use these words with negativity and create hell.  I want to take my point a step further - There was a little girl about the age of 12 who was a great dancer. This little girl took dance class, dreamed of being a dancer,  and all she did was smile when she was dancing. The little girls mother comes home one day from a rough day of work, and out of irritation yells, "stop dancing! you are terrible just stop!"  This little girl never danced another day in her life.  She was so sad and felt so bad about herself that she neglected a skill that could have led her to a career.  This is just an example of how powerful our words can be. If you ever have done something great and someone tells you - Great job! you feel confident and you want to do it more and more. If someone tells you that you are terrible at something it makes you feel awful and you fear doing something you could have been great at. Another example is when you meet someone new and your circle of friends talks poorly about that person - these words make you believe that this new "truth" is the real truth, and the person is no good. You decide its best not to hang out with this person and potentially miss many opportunities.
I thought this was great to blog about since so many of us get caught up reading the news or listening to what others say 24/7. After awhile you start believing certain ideas which can lead to depression and confusion. Language is a virus; it can be a beautiful one. Be aware of the things you say to others and the words you absorb - You never know whose life you are affecting or shall i say, infecting.

our deepest desires

I have been doing a lot of thinking and some meditation lately, and I have discovered something very important. Our true self is deep inside us already, and we do not need  to go searching for it. Every time I hear a friend say, "I need a girlfriend or a boyfriend"  I always respond with,  "don't look for it, let it come to you."  This brings me to an important point - Everything is brought to our attention when we NEED it and allow it,  not when we WANT it.   Before these desires come into our atmosphere we need to be grateful for what we have and who we are. When I become sidetracked and I do not show gratitude this is when I am at my worst - on the flip side when I become grateful for my friends, family, skills i have developed, good health, etc etc. I become happy and things flow towards me easily.
I was in a deep meditation session recently, when my body became numb and I was not conscious of my breathing. I have attained this state before but this time it was special. I saw myself on a beach for a few seconds then that image faded out. I began to see crystal clear water resting in my cupped palms and certain thoughts crossed my mind. I tried hard to keep them out and in little flashes, I had thoughts of clarity - things that I am meant to be doing, want, and need, I already know and have.  This was the lesson that I learned. I got up from the meditation and thought this was too simple to be true. These obtainable dreams, ideas and desires, that we have, are deep inside of us, but smothered with doubt.  Throughout our lifetime many of us are told we can and cannot do certain things and that we should do one thing rather than another. these beliefs get embedded into our brains and ultimately cause blocks in the flowing energy system. It is important to recognize these blocks and clear them immediately. We cannot live other peoples lives, in that what is good for one person is not good for the next.  We as people also look too hard for things instead of letting them come to us. Next time you go out - Say to yourself, "I don't expect much, just the best."  Clear your mind of any doubt and just enjoy being with the people you love - whether it be friends, family, co-workers, or total strangers. Ever notice you meet someone when you least expect it? ever notice ideas come when your not thinking too much? there is a reason for this - In the still of the moment is where  our deepest desires can be found and things flow to us when we LET them. Too many people focus on what they don't have rather than what they want. If you want more money - do not focus on the lack of money, Focus on the amount that you desire; how it feels, tastes, looks like, etc etc. Meditation is a great way to calm the mind and get rid of the negative thoughts we are fed throughout the day. Exercise and healthy eating is another great way to put ourself on the positive end of the spectrum.  When we practice these techniques and focus on the positive  rather than the negative, we can begin to feel good and attract what we desire most.

have a great day,

Geoff

Nurturing your inner child aka become more creative

Happy Friday everyone! I hope all of you are doing well and getting excited for the warm weather to come this weekend!  The blog today is about nurturing your inner child. You may  have heard the term, "inner child" used before and thought, wow thats really odd. Everyone has a playful and creative side to them though many people do not keep this creativity and playfulness alive. Many people suffer from stress and simply live their lives too seriously. I recently got caught up reading a book called, "The Artists Way" - by Julia Cameron, which goes through steps that you can take to keep your creativity candle lit and discover your true self . She highlights that we must spend time to ourselves going on adventures whether it be to an art museum, a stroll around the park, or simply doing something that made us happy as a young child.  This is called our Artists date. It may seem odd at first going somewhere or spending time alone especially if you have trouble being by yourself. After a while of doing it, the process becomes second nature and you enjoy the adventures you embark on.  The next thing she calls for is to keep a journal in the morning. (I found you can do this both in the morning and night time). This journal is meant to free up the clutter that is in your mind and allow you to express your true self more freely. Ms. Cameron states that even if you have nothing to write about just write! write blah blah blah blah if you have to.  I did both of these exercises and at first felt very odd. I felt like I was keeping a diary and was spending too much time alone. After a month of doing this I started realizing I was becoming more creative and when I was with my friends I was interpreting things from a different angle.  I was saying and writing ideas that were absolutely brilliant.  The book discusses further how you can free up the clutter in your head and live a more enjoyable and creative lifestyle. I am excited for all you to try these ideas and for those who do not - so be it. If at this point you think this is nonsense and you have doubts - you may go onto amazon.com  and read the reviews on the book. There you will  see that even the top ceos and executives in companies use these methods.

I wish you all the best

enjoy the moment

Enjoy the moment.  What exactly does this mean? People always throw this phrase around as much as the infamous three words; I -Love - You. Parents tell you to enjoy the moment, teachers tell you to enjoy the moment, and friends tell you to enjoy the moment. Before I embarked on my journey to discover my true self, I had trouble understanding what my peers meant when they told me to simply enjoy the moment. I would attempt to do multiple things at once, only to do one or more of the tasks carelessly. I would miss the enjoyment of the conversation or what I was doing. I would miss the lessons of life and the opportunities that were present. I was in such a hurry all the time and I was becoming stressed out. When we become aware of the moment as a still shot rather than an ongoing scene, we understand the clear purpose that has been presented before us. We notice the beauty in what others are saying, in artwork, and life itself. The opportunities that we may chose to accept or decline become more apparent and we feel more relaxed. We enjoy tasks such as; doing the dishes, sitting in traffic with the radio on, and buying food at the crowded supermarket. For a minute I'd like you to stop reading these words. Close your eyes and think about what you were doing an hour ago and how it has affected your life. Try to picture what the moment looked like, smelled like, and maybe even tasted like. Was it just another event to check off on your schedule or did you actually enjoy yourself? did you learn anything? did you feel relaxed or stressed? Ask yourself many questions about the moment. Doing this on a daily basis can increase your awareness and make you realize life is about enjoyment not being stressed 24/7. Meditation techniques are great and are proven to relax the mind, body, and soul. If everyone in the world would just pause for a second, stop what he or she is doing, and simply enjoy, society would be a much brighter place.
